QATAR STEEL

Overview:

Brief History

Qatar Steel was incorporated in 1974, by way of Emiri Decree No. 130. It was formed as a joint venture between the Government of Qatar [70%] and two Japanese companies, Kobe Steel [20%] and Tokyo Boeki [10%], to establish an integrated steel plant.

Subsequently, shares of Kobe Steel and Tokyo Boeki were acquired by the Government of Qatar, which later on transferred to QP and thereafter to IQ during a reorganisation in April 2003.

Ownership

At present, Qatar Steel remains 100% owned by IQ.

Related Companies

Qatar Steel has one wholly-owned subsidiary, Qatar Steel Dubai Steel FZE, and three associates, Qatar Metal Coating Company, United Stainless Steel Company and Gulf Industrial Investment Company.
